
For grade activity day, the freshman spent the morning in the cafeteria making cupcakes, burgers, spring rolls, and salads.
They learned how the chefs prepare our food everyday and how much work it takes. Taher chefs from all three Blake campuses demonstrated how to prepare food from all over the world.
Charlie Levitt ‘15 says, "It was really cool learning about how to chop different things, cause I'm not a very good cook."
Many people might ask, how did you end up in the kitchen? The original plan was to go snow tubing, but for the lack of snow, we needed another option.
Ninth grade dean, Ben Temple's inspiration came from a similar activity several years back. He said it showed that even a simple task could be challenging.
Hannah Fine '15 says, "This experience was so great because I got to bond with my grade while learning the capabilities about cooking." [Sic]
They had to rely on each other to make sure everything turned out right. The day was successful as it allowed peers to work cooperatively, produced a greater appreciation for the kitchen staff, and turned out to be lots of fun!
