Breakfast now served at the Elementary School!

Students need a nutritious breakfast in order to effectively learn during the school day.  A  Breakfast Program at the Middle and High School was started last year, and we have expanded it to the Elementary this year.  Students who are approved for Free or Reduced Priced Lunches also qualify for a Free or Reduced Price Breakfast.  The meal includes an entree, fruit or juice and milk, and the menu has a wide variety of choices throughout the month.

The Monthly Breakfast Menu is available on the Menus page by clicking on the link to the left.  Pick your favorites and join us for Breakfast!

This year we have made slight changes to the Fruit and Vegetable Bar, which is included with every meal purchase.  There has always been a choice of Fresh or Canned Fruit, and Vegetables offered daily.  This year we are including three different vegetables each day to offer more variety.  Bread will be served when our menu doesn't already include it with the entree.

Salad was always one of the vegetables we have served, however salad with extra ranch dressing adds more fat to our diets which offsets the value of eating low fat fruits and vegetables.  Children have become used to getting asked "what sauce would you like with that" from an early age when eating at any fast food restaurant, and now finger food with ranch dip has become so popular, that it has even shown up on pizza!  Ranch dressing is used more than ketchup, and is used to flavor wraps, sandwiches and burgers and fries.  As a company, we at Taher Inc. are trying to impact childhood eating habits by serving vegetables on our Fruit and Vegetable Bars without dipping sauce.  Elementary students who are not used to eating ranch with all of their vegetables, have learned to like them without sauces.  They can actually experience what a carrot or piece of broccoli really tastes like!  Older students and adults are more used to sauces and typically use more of it, and on more items.  However, High School students are also able to make educated decisions when they have all the facts.  So here at Little Chute School District, we would rather encourage and educate students to make better choices rather than take the options away completely.
