Free or Reduced Price Meals

If you will be participating in the Free or Reduced Priced lunch or breakfast program, a new application must be filled out yearly (one application per student).  We strongly encourage that all families who feel they may have a need, fill out an application.  For confidentiality reasons, only the Food Service Director and her assistant confirm and approve your financial eligibility. To apply for free or reduced price meals or milk, use this Free and Reduced Price School Meals Application, which can be printed using acrobat reader. We cannot approve an application that is not complete, so be sure to fill out all required information. Return the completed application to your child's school as soon as possible.
Children need healthy meals to learn. Shorewood School District offers healthy meals every school day. Lunch costs $2.30 at the Elementary Schools, and $2.60 at Intermediate and High Schools. Your children may qualify for free meals or for reduced price meals;  Reduced price is $.40 for lunch.  Our Computerized Meal System ensures no student may be identified as being approved for subsidized meals when receiving their lunch.

Here are some frequently asked questions about free or reduced priced meals:

What if my income is not always the same?
List the amounts that you normally get.  For example, if you normally get $1000 each month, but you missed some work last month and only got $900, put down that you get $1000 per month.  If you normally get overtime, include it, but not if you get it only some of the time.
We are in the military.  Do we include our housing allowance as income?
