FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BROOKLYN PARK – North Hennepin Community College (NHCC) has selected Taher, Inc. (Taher), to be its food service vendor for the 2012-2014 fiscal years.
“NHCC is especially impressed by Taher’s sustainability efforts and their chef-based food service program which uses healthy, fresh, and local ingredients. This partnership naturally aligns with the college’s overall ‘sustainability’ and ‘health’ initiatives,” says Dawn Reimer, NHCC’s Chief Finance and Facilities Officer.
A few of Taher’s sustainability efforts are already in effect. For example, they have upgraded from disposable to real silverware for people dining at the Campus Center. They are also using recycled and bio-degradable paper products for things like napkins and takeout containers.
In addition to their homemade soups and salads, Taher will feature new “made-to-order” concepts such as “Freshwich” subs and a Mexican burrito bar. A “Farm to Cafeteria” program will also provide awareness and serve produce grown by local farmers.
Taher is open to students and the general public from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Follow NHCC and Taher on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/northhennepincommunitycollege .
