District food provider Taher Inc. sponsors Nutrition Fairs
Taher Inc., food service provider for the Augusta School District has been holding old Nutrition Fairs this week for the benefit of students and staff. The nutrition fairs are a result of Taher’s commitment to nutrition and wellness education in our schools.
Taher Food Service director Connie Stanek, and Taher Chef Zach Hettenbach have been conducting the fairs which include promoting the Top 10 most nutritional foods. Hettenbach attended schools here and is an Augusta High School graduate.
Students taking part in the school lunch program at public schools here have been introduced to some nutritional food choices this week by Taher Inc., food service provider for the Augusta school district. Also, the students at elementary schools, middle school, and high school are now dining with silverware and reusable trays
This week’s schedule for the nutrition fairs has been:
Tuesday – Augusta High School and Augusta Middle School
Wednesday – Robinson Elementary and Lincoln Elementary
Thursday – Augusta Learning Center, Ewalt Elementary and Garfield Elementary.
Taher Inc. has also made a commitment to the “Going Green” effort in Augusta public schools. Reusable trays and silverware have replaced styrofoam trays and plastic forks and spoons in the dining rooms at Lincoln, Garfield and Robinson elementary schools as well as Augusta Middle School and Augusta Learning Center. The reusable trays and silverware will roll out at Ewalt Elementary and Augusta High School the week of March 22-26. “The students are very excited about the new trays” said Bonnie Paske, food coordinator for the school district.
Taher Inc. Chef Zach Hettenbach of Augusta (above) was part of the lunchtime Nutrition Fair at Robinson Elementary on Wednesday. He encouraged the boys and girls there to put more yogurt in their diet.
