School Board Thanks Food Service Department
Members of the Hiawatha School Board gave special recognition to the food service personnel of USD 415 Monday night at their regular meeting. Superintendent Penny Hargrove introduced the members of food services and praised them for the excellent job they have done this year.
“This is one of the first years that the students have been excited about the new food choices and all the different options they have available to them,” said Hargrove. “It was quite an adjustment for our staff to make and they deserve to be commended.”
Sharon Gormley, Taher Food Service Director, introduced the staff: Jan Siebenmorgen, Eddie Hanson, Lisa Stahl, Sandra Simpson, Jennifer White, Robinette Brown, Janette Thonen, Evie Palato, Linda Kelsey, Julie Johansen, Christina Bryant, Diana Morey and Joanne Martinez.
“For a lot of kids, the school lunch is the only meal they get in a day, and it’s important to make it a good one,” said Gormley.
School Board President Matt Sprick said he agreed and appreciated the outstanding job they are doing.
“As a school board, we hear so many things that aren’t so positive at times, but I will tell you that this year, we have heard nothing but positive comments about the school lunch program, and our thanks go out to you all.”
